Present Research Interest

My work in the last 5 years as a clinical investigator has mainly involved the role of the micronutrient “zinc” in the therapy of childhood infections, namely diarrhea, infant sepsis and pneumonia. This has whet my appetite to focus on zinc- be it the mechanistic understanding of how and under what
Circumstances zinc supplementation works or the nutritional modulation (by zinc) of immune function in the fetus and new-born.
