The Indo-US International Conference on “Antimicrobial Resistance and Human Microbiome” and two day hands on workshop on “Next Generation Sequencing and Data Analysis” was organized in THSTI, Faridabad on 15th-18th November, 2023 under the aegis of DBT-NIH Vaccine Action Programme (VAP). The present conference and workshop highlighted the opportunities for scientific collaboration and promote the exchange of knowledge, aiming to advance AMR and human microbiome research in India and other parts of the globe. It was thus a great platform for researchers and experts to exchange ideas and present their latest research findings. The conference was attended by over 200 participants, more than 100 delegates from around the globe and over 25 eminent speakers presented their research work. Experts in antimicrobial research presented their work on the first day of the conference (15 Nov 2023) while the second day (16 Nov 2023) was dedicated to sessions on microbiome research. Also, a panel discussion on a very important topic “Microbiome based therapeutics and diagnostics” was a highlight of the conference. There were over 58 poster presentations by young researchers from around the country and six best poster awards were presented.

The hands-on workshop on Next Generation Sequencing and Data Analysis covered hands-on wet-lab and bioinformatic processes required to generate, process, analyse, and interpret genomic and metagenomic data from biological samples and provided hands-on skills to carry out practical bioinformatics exercises by providing real datasets. Resource personnel from the BV-BRC trained the young researchers about the analysis of high-throughput sequencing data using BVBRC tools and command line interface for metagenomic as well as comprehensive genome analysis to help them decipher important inferences about the AMR genes and human microbiome.
