DR.SIKANDER SAINI
Ph.D.
SCIENTIST D
- Ph.D. in Animal Biotechnology (National Dairy Research Institute)
As a dedicated researcher in the field of Reproduction Biology, I specialize in Embryo Biotechnology, contributing to advancements in genetic resource preservation and application. My work plays a crucial role in maintaining genetic diversity and enhancing the availability of valuable rodent models for biomedical research. My lab is currently focusing on below mentioned areas.
Research Interests
Rodent Germplasm Cryopreservation:
My primary focus is on the development and optimization of cryopreservation techniques for rodent germplasm, which includes sperm, oocytes, and embryos. This work not aids in the long-term storage of genetic material, thereby strengthening breeding programs and uninterrupted biomedical research.
Mouse Genome Engineering:
I am passionate about employing cutting-edge genome engineering techniques to create genetically modified mouse models. These models are pivotal for elucidating gene function, unraveling disease mechanisms, and exploring potential therapeutic strategies. My research endeavors to improve the precision and efficiency of genome editing techniques, thereby enhancing the quality and reliability of animal models for experimental use.
Stem Cell Research:
My interests also encompass stem cell biology, particularly its applications within regenerative medicine and developmental biology. By integrating stem cell research with germplasm cryopreservation efforts, I aim to investigate innovative applications and therapeutic interventions that can lead to substantial advancements in our understanding of various diseases.
My lab's primary focus is to establish a robust repository of rodent germplasm, designed to be one of a kind in its comprehensiveness and utility. We are also committed to enhancing our comprehension of genetics and reproductive biology through rigorous research methodologies. I welcome opportunities for collaboration, discussion, and knowledge exchange within the field and beyond with fellow researchers.
