Broad areas of Research

1. Dengue virus characterization to understand its genetic diversity, evolution and pathogenicity for establishing therapeutic strategies

2. Expression and production strategies to develop recombinant viral antigens for functional assays

Amresh Kumar Singh

Lab Technician – 2011 – Present
B.A. (Hons) in History, Bihar University

Email: ccvlab@thsti.res.in

I have been working in research labs since 1998 and in CCV lab since 2011 and play an important role in keeping our lab functional and productive. I take care of all the day-to-day research requirements of the lab.

Pooja Kumari Shashi

Project Associate – II (June 2021 –Present)

M.Sc. in Lifesciences (2019) from Central University of South Bihar

Email: poojashashi@thsti.res.in

Recent outbreaks of several pathogenic viruses like Ebola, Dengue , Zika ,  and now SARS-CoV-2 make virology research exciting. There is conceivability of new viruses emerging that can infect humans, and demanding regular research about these viruses to develop treatment methodologies. I am contributing  to establishing platform technologies to support  prophylactic and therapeutic strategies for Dengue-Discovery to proof-of-concept.

I have always been a very creative person and find it relaxing to indulge in craft activities.

Shivam Singh

Ph.D. Student (April 2021 – present)

M.Sc. Biotechnology (2019) from Central University of Rajasthan

Email: shivamsingh@thsti.res.in

I was always fascinated with viral diseases and to think about the ways we could tackle them. The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has highlighted the multipronged approach one needs to take to do so. With the urge to learn more in this field, I joined CCV lab in April 2021. Prior to this, I worked  at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi as a Junior research fellow. Currently, I am working on Respiratory Syncytial virus.

My hobbies are playing badminton, volleyball, and travelling.

I am involved in assay development for dengue vaccines and serosurveys since July 2020

Rohit Singh

Ph.D. student (February 2022–Present)

M.Sc. in Molecular Medical Microbiology (2020) from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur

Email: rohitsingh@thsti.res.in

I began my journey in the field of biological sciences with an internship in a Forensic biology laboratory wherein I saw science in action and its far-reaching effects on society. During my undergraduate and postgraduate coursework, I developed a keen interest in infectious diseases, immunology, and epidemiology, which encouraged me to join the CCV lab. When I am not in the lab, I like to read novels, cook, dance, travel, and watch movies.

Chandan Kumar Verma

Ph.D. Student – 2020 - Present

M.Sc. in Biotechnology from Visva-Bharati, West Bengal (India)
B.Sc. in Life Science from University of Delhi, Delhi (India)

Viruses are the simplest non-living creatures in the world which are able to infect diverse groups of living organisms. My passion is to explore the simplicity of virus as an organism and its complex interactions with the host. Currently, I am trying to understand the role of immune evasion strategies of dengue virus.
Apart from academia, I love to play cricket and listening music.
