Research Activities

My research focused on the immunological and molecular characterization of HIV-1. I have been actively involved in immunological characterization of HIV-1 clade C viruses from Indian HIV-1 infected patients and generation and characterization of Human monoclonal antibodies against the envelope glycoprotein of HIV-1 clade C viruses that are predominant in India and worldwide using phage display and memory B cell sorting technology. Hypothesis of this study projects the identification of the gene usage in these antibodies generated against clade C viruses and characterization of the antigenic regions conserved within the different HIV clades as well as those that are unique to clade C viruses
